Relationships can be loving and painful at the same time. You may care deeply about each other, but still feel caught in repeated arguments, emotional distance, mistrust, resentment, or silence.
I offer couples therapy and relationship therapy in Saffron Walden for partners who want a thoughtful, supportive space to understand what is happening between them and find a different way forward.
Couples therapy may be helpful if you are struggling with communication, conflict, trust, intimacy, emotional distance, parenting pressures, life transitions, affairs, separation decisions, or feeling stuck in the same painful cycle.
The work is not about deciding who is right or wrong. It is about slowing things down enough to understand the pattern between you, how each person protects themselves, and what each of you may need in order to feel safer, heard and more connected.
Please reach me at mm@madeleinemansfield.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Yes. I offer couples therapy and relationship therapy in person in Saffron Walden.
No. Some couples come when things feel very difficult, while others come because they want to understand patterns earlier and protect the relationship.
No. My role is to support the relationship process and help both people feel heard, while also paying attention to safety, power and emotional impact.
That doesn't mean I won't challenge. As with all the therapy I provide, part of my role is to be a mirror to help you see patterns that might be unhelpful.
Yes. I welcome LGBTQ+ couples and partners from a range of relationship structures and backgrounds, including open relationships, polyamory and relationship anarchy.
Yes. Therapy can offer a structured space to explore the relationship, what has happened, what each person wants, and whether repair or separation feels right.
If separation has already been agreed, therapy can offer a space to discuss next steps such as formally ending the relationship, communication regarding family or children and how to develop new 'ground rules' for the future.
Couples therapy and relationship therapy sessions are usually 80 minutes and cost £100 per session.
